Sara Vukas

I am currently part of the science department at the Academy of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, the oldest all girls catholic school in New Jersey. I have taught all levels of biology (college prep, honors and Advanced Placement) as well as several science electives (anatomy & physiology, pathology and genetics & biotechnology). I also serve as the student council advisor and assistant swim coach. I love having the ability to help students find their passion for life, in or outside the classroom, and I enjoy coming to work everyday and doing something that I love. Having a variety of roles at my school allows me to get to know most of the students, even if I do not teach all of them.

At Ursinus, having the ability to major in the subject you teach always gave me a jump start when I was applying and interviewing for jobs. I always felt prepared in the subject matter I taught. The education department helped me to find my passion for teaching through the variety of classes that were offered. Even though I was one of the only science majors in most of my classes, I enjoyed the collaboration with other subjects, which also led me to create cross-curricular projects at my current school.

Homecoming for Sara Vukas ’18 and Ginger Rossnagel Vukas ’79

Homecoming is a time to reunite with your friends after leaving college. It is nice to have a date every year dedicated to reuniting with Ursinus alumni. It doesn’t matter if you graduated last year or ten years ago, everyone has an enjoyable time. This was my second year attending as an alumna and it was special this year because my mom, who also graduated from Ursinus, attended as well for her 40th reunion.
