Sara Vukas, Ursinus graduate named Teacher of the Year!
Sara graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology as well as obtaining her teaching certificate in grades 7-12 Biology. After graduating from Ursinus, Sara worked as a long-term substitute at Souderton Area High School. In 2019, she moved back to New Jersey and began working at the Academy of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ. She will be starting her third year at the Academy this fall. Sara has taught all levels of biology from college prep courses to advanced placement courses. She is also teaching Anatomy & Physiology and Pathology this fall.
During St. Elizabeth’s graduation ceremony this spring, Sara was honored with the Panther Pride Teacher of the Year Award. The Panther Pride Spirit Award, sponsored by the AOSE Parents’ Association, was established to recognize the extraordinary efforts of students, staff, and parents who make a true difference in their school community. Each year, the Parents’ Association acknowledge the efforts of a student, staff member and parent who “go the extra mile” to make a difference in our school.
Sara recently contacted her faculty mentors at Ursinus and said, “I just wanted to reach out and thank you for all of your help in making me the teacher I am today. I truly valued my education classes at Ursinus.” Needless to say, the faculty and staff at Ursinus are very proud of Sara and not one bit surprised to hear of her accomplishments!
