A Hidden Danger in our Waters: Understanding Microplastics and its effects on Human and Ecological Health

Emily Lybashev, a biology major on a pre-med track, has spent her summer studying microplastics and their effects on the environment under the direction of Assistant Professor of Biology Colleen Bove as a part of Ursinus’s Summer Fellows program.

Celebrating One Year of BearShare

BearShare started as a project out of Dr. Joseph’s waste capstone in 2022, and was picked up as an ongoing program in the Fall of 2023 by the Department of Environment and Sustainability and the Office of Sustainability on campus. This spring, we’re celebrating our first full year of BearShare pop-up markets. What a year it’s been!

Joey Nolan ’24 will travel to five countries to engage with different forms of theater during his “Watson year” through a yearlong grant that allows recent college graduates to explore the world abroad.

The numbers are in for BearShare’s first semester! We’ve engaged hundreds of members of our campus community in this free thrift store, and recirculated hundreds of pounds of clothing, books, and household items. It turns out that our Bears love to share.
