I am currently part of the science department at the Academy of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, the oldest all girls catholic school in New Jersey. I have taught all levels of biology (college prep, honors and Advanced Placement) as well as several science electives (anatomy & physiology, pathology and genetics & biotechnology). I also serve as the student council advisor and assistant swim coach. I love having the ability to help students find their passion for life, in or outside the classroom, and I enjoy coming to work everyday and doing something that I love. Having a variety of roles at my school allows me to get to know most of the students, even if I do not teach all of them.
At Ursinus, having the ability to major in the subject you teach always gave me a jump start when I was applying and interviewing for jobs. I always felt prepared in the subject matter I taught. The education department helped me to find my passion for teaching through the variety of classes that were offered. Even though I was one of the only science majors in most of my classes, I enjoyed the collaboration with other subjects, which also led me to create cross-curricular projects at my current school.
