The dance department awards a scholarship of $40,000/year to an outstanding dance student with ability, commitment, and leadership.

How to Apply

Students interested in auditioning must:

  1. Apply to the college by February 1.
  2. Complete the online application by February 3. To apply students will login with the username and password sent to them upon application submission to Ursinus. Please check the email address associated with your application.
  3. Auditions will be held on campus in March.

On the Day of Auditions, Applicants are Required to:

  • Take part in two audition classes taught by Ursinus faculty
  • Participate in an in-person (or virtual) interview during which they will be asked to discuss at-length: 
    • the role that dance (as both a physical practice and field of research and study) currently plays in their life
    • their personal and professional life-long goals as a dance artist, researcher, or educator; arts cultural worker, administrator, curator; or professional in another field whose work will draw heavily from their training and study in Dance
  • Submit a dance-related resume

Terms of the Scholarship

The scholarship recipient must meet the following criteria each year for the scholarship to be renewed each fall:

  • participate (as a performer in at least one piece, a crew member, a production/ design team member, or a student choreographer) in the Ursinus College Dance Company concert each semester
  • major in Dance or double major in Dance and another discipline
  • complete at least eight credits in Dance technique and/ or practice courses, repeating any of the technique and/ or practice courses at least once

Please note that the Dance Scholarship replaces any Ursinus College Scholarship previously offered by Ursinus College.
