THE URSINUS COLLEGE FUND (UC FUND)

The Ursinus College Fund (UC Fund) is our institutional need-based award. This award is used to help meet a portion of a student’s financial need.

A student’s financial need is determined by subtracting the Student Aid Index (SAI), as calculated from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), from their total cost of attendance for the academic year.

Students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have financial need to be considered for UC Fund eligibility. Because the award is based on the amount of financial need a student has, not all students are eligible to receive the UC Fund.

*The UC Fund may be adjusted based on changes in a student’s financial need as a result of FAFSA corrections, changes in SAI on FAFSA renewals in subsequent years, and/or changes in the amount of scholarship and need-based financial aid a student is awarded. Adjustments may also be made based on changes to a student’s financial need as a result of a change in residency status.

STATE AND FEDERAL GRANTS

  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
These federally grants are awarded through Ursinus College to students with extremely high financial need. They do not have to be repaid.
  • Pennsylvania State Grant
These funds are awarded by the State of Pennsylvania on the basis of its financial need formula. This is a grant that does not have to be repaid. The amount of the final award is determined by the state and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). Your FAFSA must be submitted by May 1st to receive state grant consideration.
  • Federal Pell Grant
These are grants awarded by the federal government on the basis of its financial need formula. This grant is from the federal government and does not need to be repaid.
  • Non-Pennsylvania State Grants
These funds are awarded by a state other than Pennsylvania. This is a grant or scholarship that does not have to be repaid.

FEDERAL WORK STUDY

The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program provides funding for part-time employment for students.

Students are able to seek part-time employment on campus in order to earn the dollars that are a part of the financial aid package. Most students work an average of 8 to 10 hours per week, and the pay is minimum wage or greater. Students are paid bi-weekly. The FWS award MAY NOT be deducted from the student bill.

Federal Work Study jobs are not guaranteed; however, students with FWS in their financial aid package will be given priority when seeking employment. If a student is not able to secure a job at the beginning of the academic year he or she is encouraged to check back often because campus jobs become available regularly throughout the year.

Please note that no student working on campus is permitted to work during scheduled classroom time.
