5-STAR can show whether an organization is more leadership driven or community service driven. One thing all organizations do have in common is the push for both personal and professional development which 5-STAR helps promote.
The five areas are Scholarship, Organization Development, Leadership, New Member Development, and Community Service.
Scholarship
- Organizations are focusing on the academic needs of all members
- Organizations are ensuring there are events dedicated to studying and centered around
- Organizations have a written academic program that details how they would help a member who is struggling in a class
Organization Development
- Organization is putting clear thoughts into the events they host
- Organizations engage with and attend other organization’s events to promote Greek Unity
- There is clear participation in the Inter-Greek Council so students can meet with each other and find creative ways to grow their organizations
Leadership
- Students in organizations are attending programs that promote healthy lifestyles
- Attend trainings on conflict resolution, marketing, or other skills when offered
New Member Development
- Organization has created programs for new members that will develop their leadership skills
- Organization has created engaging recruitment events to showcase their organization
Service
- Organization hosts at least one community service event and participates in 2 others each semester
- Organization creates unique funding ideas to help the Ursinus Community
