Okanagan Charter

Proving that wellness cannot be an afterthought, President Hannigan made an international pledge to insert health and well-being in every facet of campus life, and Ursinus became the first liberal arts college in the nation to sign the Okanagan Charter, providing guidance and principles for holistic well-being in person, place, and planet. Ursinus is a member of the Health Promoting Campuses Network.

Named first recovery-friendly campus in the U.S.

Recovery-Friendly Workplaces certified Ursinus as the first recovery-friendly campus in the U.S., highlighting its commitment to supporting individuals in recovery from substance use and mental health disorders.

The Hive

When President Hannigan signed the Okanagan Charter, Ursinus embarked on a mission to embed health and well-being into all aspects of campus culture—for students and employees—and to lead health promotion action and collaboration locally and globally. One of the most visible and tangible ways that we're doing that is through The Hive, a brand-new flex space next to thecampus's Wellness Center that houses expanded wellness services for students and employees.

Community Panel on Recovery

Together with S. Rep. Madeleine Dean, Ursinus hosted a panel discussion emphasizing how higher education can innovate in community recovery efforts, with attendees sharing personal connections to substance use disorder.
