The College provides bereavement leave for employees who have lost family members.

The College’s bereavement leave policy is designed to provide compassionate and flexible support to employees who experience the loss of a family member. We understand that each employee’s grieving process is unique, and we are committed to providing flexible support tailored to their needs.

* Eligible individuals are entitled to up to 5 days of paid bereavement leave per occurrence.

* Paid bereavement leave days are to be taken at the time of the death and/or the funeral/memorial service.

* In cases where additional support, accommodation, or time is needed, individuals are encouraged to discuss their situation with their supervisor or a representative from Human Resources.

* Employees are required to notify their supervisor in writing as soon as possible to request bereavement leave. In most situations, your supervisor will be able to approve your request. In rare circumstances where prompt approval may prove challenging, your supervisor will work with you and HR to accommodate the request.

* In keeping with best payroll practices, you may be asked to provide certification of the death, such as a death certificate or a published death notice before bereavement leave pay will be authorized.
