Morgan Cope ’19

I am currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Centre College in Danville, KY. I teach courses in Social Psychology and Romantic Relationships/Sexuality in addition to general program requirements including introductory courses in psychology and research methods. I founded the Relationship Science Centre where I serve as the lead investigator conducting research on the intersection of the self/identity and romantic relationships while mentoring undergraduate students. The recent work I published with professors at Ursinus College has focused on how individuals recover from romantic breakup, relationship rekindling (i.e., getting back together with an ex), and commitment trajectories in relationships.

The Ursinus Impact

I was a student researcher in Dr. Brent Mattingly’s lab which had a profound impact on my career and personal development. We are now research collaborators and have published articles popularized in Psychology Today and on Reddit R/science. My independent research as a student with Brent and my experience at Ursinus overall inspired me to pursue a PhD in Psychology so that I could return to the liberal arts college setting and fulfill the role of teacher-scholar.
