Lexie Mastrangelo ’19
Currently, I am a fifth year graduate student (and doctoral candidate) at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) going for my doctoral degree in School Psychology (Psy.D).
I recently defended my dissertation, and my research aimed to evaluate the effects of state anxiety on the updating function of working memory. I am presently on internship at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh working in their Transplant Psychology Services. Here, I work across organ groups, including liver, kidney, intestine, heart and lung. I primarily work with patients across inpatient and outpatient services, as well as conduct neuropsychological assessments.
Another part of my role is consulting with schools in the area to ensure children have the appropriate resources and accommodations needed to be successful across academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains of functioning.
Upon graduating next year, I plan to pursue a fellowship in Transplant Psychological services. My goals are to continue working as a pediatric psychologist following fellowship, and to become a certified neuropsychologist and work in a school setting for part of my career.
