What do you love most about Ursinus?
There are so many faculty and staff at Ursinus that so badly want you to succeed. For a lot of college kids, high school is the last time they have an unrelated adult care so much about them. I think that’s important, and I think its special.
What opportunities have you had to explore and grow your passions at Ursinus?
Again, the faculty and staff are here to help and you can do as much (or as little) as you set out to do. I have gotten to spend lots of time in a classroom tutoring kids (like 400 hours), talk to people (my favorite thing to do), and go abroad to Argentina, just to name a few.
When did you first discover Ursinus was the right fit for you?
At the end of the tours at the other schools I visited (there were lots), I felt anxious. At Ursinus, I felt fine. I’m not going to sit here and say that I knew it was the perfect fit and that I felt right at home immediately, but it didn’t feel WRONG and I think that counts for something. A good fitting school is going to be a relationship you build, that means you are conquering discomfort, but not trying to overcome something that is so blatantly wrong for you that you want to lose your cookies.
What has been your favorite experience at Ursinus so far?
I think when my friend group really clicked into place, and I started looking forward to eating at Wismer and walking around campus. This didn’t take long, maybe a couple days, but the people make or break the experience and my people make it infinitely better everyday.
Advice for incoming students:
Listen to your heart, mind, stomach, ankle, left pinky finger, whatever is telling you something. If you’re at a school and feel uneasy or bad, it’s okay to take it off the list.
Also, if you have tasks to do (college essays, applications, SAT practice, etc.)…wear pants! It helps with productivity.
