Molly Blew

I graduated from Ursinus College in 2012 with a major in psychology and a minor in neuroscience. While at Ursinus, I learned about the career of school psychology from one of my professors. I subsequently decided to take education courses in order to explore whether a career at the intersection of psychology and education might be a good fit for me. Through my education courses, I was struck by the inequities present in the school system, which motivated me to pursue a career that would allow me to work to reduce barriers to student achievement.

I continued my education at the University of Delaware, where I obtained my master’s and education specialist degrees in school psychology. I have since worked as a school psychologist in Middletown, Delaware and now Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. In my role, I support students, parents, and school staff in understanding and programming for the unique academic and social-emotional needs of students.

The courses that I took through the Education Department at Ursinus College continue to influence my day-to-day practice as they have provided me with a solid foundation in understanding the broad societal factors which impact our educational systems. This perspective allows me to operate not just on the individual student level, but also on the systems level. My experience at Ursinus College has enabled me to become a well-rounded practitioner with an understanding of systemic change.
