Ursinus College trustee and alumnus Dave Kovach ’90 has pledged $500K to support APEX at Ursinus, a transformative new learning ecosystem, combining curricular and co-curricular experiences that will redefine the student journey starting in fall 2025. APEX—applied, professional, experiential—will enable all students to apply their learning in project-based courses, collaborate with faculty and fellow students on solutions to global problems, and build career-relevant competencies.
“APEX is a reimagining of college for today’s world and tomorrow’s opportunities,” said Robyn Hannigan, president of Ursinus College. “We are deeply grateful for Dave’s generosity, his longstanding commitment to Ursinus College, and for choosing to invest in our students’ futures.”
Kovach, whose experience in financial services spans 35 years, is a wealth manager and partner for Creative Planning, where he works directly with clients to create and maintain customized financial plans that address all aspects of a healthy financial life. He also serves as president of KTA Funding Hope, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting community members affected by unforeseen circumstances.
In addition to being an Ursinus College trustee, Kovach has been a longtime supporter of the college through both his philanthropy and volunteerism. This year, he is being honored with the 2025 Bear2Bear Impact Award for Leadership and Service. “Giving back is a value that was instilled in me by my parents,” Kovach said. “I’m so grateful to be able to help support the launch of APEX at Ursinus. APEX is going to have a tremendous impact on students and their preparation for the future.”
Kovach’s giving to Ursinus also includes support for the Ursinus Fund, scholarship funds, Bear2Bear Student Emergency Fund, and athletics, including the new video scoreboard for Patterson Field.
