Ursinus College Board of Trustees Appoints New Members

Alumni Sherrell Dandy, Esq. and Richard F. Stipa began their four-year terms in January 2025

The Ursinus College Board of Trustees welcomed two new members during its winter meeting held February 6-7, 2025. Sherrell Dandy, Esq. ’07 of Philadelphia, and Richard “Rick” Stipa ’81 of Malvern, will serve four-year terms.

“I’m proud to welcome Sherell and Rick to our Board of Trustees,” said Ursinus President Robyn Hannigan. “The expertise, passion and commitment to alma mater that each one brings with them will contribute greatly to the important work of the board to fulfill our mission and strategic priorities.”

Sherrell Dandy, Esq. '07

Sherrell L. Dandy, Esq., Ursinus College class of 2007, is an attorney at Kline & Specter, PC, and an adjunct professor at Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law. Dandy has spent most of her professional life fighting for victims as a state and federal prosecutor. She began her career in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office in 2010. After four years, she became an associate attorney in a private law firm and then then joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office as an assistant U.S. attorney in 2017.

Following her tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Dandy returned to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where she worked in several positions, including serving as an assistant supervisor of more than 30 attorneys in the Homicide and Non-Fatal Shooting Unit. She tried approximately 50 major felony and homicide jury trials during her eight years at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Immediately prior to joining Kline & Specter in 2022, Dandy worked briefly with a major insurer defending auto and premises liability cases. In 2022, she was named to the City & State Pennsylvania Forty Under 40.

Richard Rick Stipa '81

Retired Chief Executive Officer of TruMark Financial Credit Union, Richard “Rick” F. Stipa, Ursinus College class of 1981 and the father of a 2011 graduate, worked in the credit union industry for over 28 years. He led TruMark Financial Credit Union as CEO for 21 years, joining the firm in 2001 and retiring in 2022. Under Stipa’s leadership the credit union grew from $670 million in assets to nearly $2.8 billion in assets and almost 132,000 members.

Stipa remains affiliated with TruMark Financial Credit Union as an associate director on their board. He is also board chair of the Campaign for Working Families, director and former board chair of CrossState Credit Union Association, and director on the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors Advisory Council.

He has previously been affiliated with the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation, the United Way Income Vision Council, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia (Community Depository Institution Advisory Council), Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (Government Affairs Committee, PAC Trustee, Pennsylvania State Advisory Committee), Credit Union National Association’s State Subcommittee, PSCU’s Strategic Planning Committee, and Tom Corbett’s Gubernatorial Transition Team.

Dandy and Stipa join the board under the leadership of chair Joseph M. DeSimone, Ursinus College class of 1986, the Sanjiv Sam Gambhir Professor of Translational Medicine and Chemical Engineering at Stanford University.
