
Dan Mullen ’94 Named Head Football Coach at UNLV
Dan Mullen, a 1994 Ursinus College graduate and former head coach at Mississippi State and Florida, has been named head football coach at UNLV, bringing with him a 103-61 career record and a legacy of coaching success, including leading 76 players to the NFL.
One famed Ursinus College alumnus has returned to the sideline at the highest level of Division One college football.
Dan Mullen, a 1994 graduate, was named head football coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Mullen previously served as head coach at both Mississippi State University and the University of Florida before working as a football analyst with ABC and ESPN. The Drexel Hill, Pa. native led Florida to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship Game in 2020 and won the SEC Coach of the Year and George Munger Awards at Mississippi State in 2014. Mullen has a 103-61 overall record over 13 years as a head coach and has had 76 players drafted to the NFL.
Mullen played football at Ursinus, starting at tight end for two years and earning All-Centennial Conference honors as a senior. He is a member of the Ursinus Hall of Fame and delivered the commencement address for the Class of 2017, during which he was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
Mullen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Ursinus, before going to Wagner College to earn his master’s and begin his coaching career.
UNLV competes in the Mountain West Conference and has made back-to-back conference championship games. The Rebels went 10-3 in 2024.
