MLK Week Essay Contest

The 2025 contest is for students in grades 5 through 8. The deadline for submissions has passed. Please check back in November for the 2026 entry information. View the information sheet and entry form.

Quotes on Display

As an Ursinus tradition, when students return in January, the campus features prominent quotes by African American thinkers, writers, artists, scientists, and people of faith. In recent years, the college has included more quotes by scientists, including NASA’s Ron McNair Jr., the astronaut who was killed in the Challenger disaster; and Katherine Johnson, the mathematician and scientist for NASA who was immortalized in Hidden Figures. quotes by Toni Morrison, the late Congressman John Lewis, and Vice-President Kamala Harris are also included.
