Spanish Story Time

How to get Involved

Prof. Giovanna Steyaert continues developing and directing developed a volunteering program for Ursinus students in several local Spanish speaking communities. At the beginning of the semester, each potential volunteer is interviewed by Prof. Steyaert and placed in a program that best fits his or her skills.

We ask prospective volunteer students to complete the following form in order to be considered for the program:

Who Can Volunteer & What Will I do

Spanish majors and minors, as well as students enrolled in elementary Spanish courses, are welcome to participate.  Some of the volunteering opportunities available to our students are

  • teaching basic English to adults
  • leading Spanish Story Times
  • helping Spanish-speaking children with homework and English language skills afterschool

 

Requirements

All volunteers need to complete the Child Abuse History Clearance and the Report of Criminal History from the PA State Police.
