Carol Dole

Professor of English

Dr. Carol Dole teaches courses in British literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as making connections with American, Russian, French, and German literatures. Her favorite novels are from the nineteenth century; she is always eager to talk with students about Jane Austen, the Brontës, George Eliot, or Thomas Hardy. She is also very interested in movies, and regularly teaches in the Film Studies program. Her scholarship on film adaptation provides a way to bring together her two principal teaching interests, the novel and film. She has also written several essays analyzing portrayals of women on screen.
