Simara Price
Dr. Simara Price joined the biology department after completing a post-doctoral research position at the University of Pennsylvania where she characterized SHORTROOT signaling pathways in C3 and C4 photosynthetic plants. Dr. Price earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Maryland and completed a Ph.D. in biology at Drexel University where her research centered upon investigating the role of the collagen protein in a marine cyanobacterium, Trichodesmium erythraeum. Dr. Price has a wealth of research and teaching experience.
When she isn’t in the Dean’s Office, you can often find her teaching her non-major course, Cell Biology, Genetics or Microbiology laboratory sections throughout the academic year.

In addition to teaching introductory level laboratory courses, I have been developing and teaching biology courses that also explore how the field of biology plays a role in the African Diasporic experience in America. The topics we explore in these courses include human evolution, migration and skin pigmentation, medical fallacies, stress and epigenetics, ancestry and many more!
