Joe Nemic

Director of Campus Safety

Joe joins Ursinus College from the Phoenixville Police Department, where he had a distinguished 33-year career. During his tenure, Joe held roles in patrol operations, investigations, administration, and accreditation. Most recently, he served as Administrative Lieutenant, overseeing police resources, activities, and personnel, including 29 officers.

Throughout his career, Joe has gained extensive experience in crisis management, large event coordination, community relations, officer training, budgeting, and more. In 2022, he was selected to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, where he participated in a 10-week leadership program; session #282.

In addition to his law enforcement background, Joe brings expertise in Title IX, SMART team training, DART work, and other specialized community-based training.

Joe’s commitment to community building, safety, and security is evident in his approach to leadership. Joe shares the Ursinus College goal of ensuring all members of the campus community feel safe and supported. His philosophy aligns perfectly with our core mission of providing a positive student experience.

Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from St. Joseph’s University and a master’s degree in public safety from the University of Virginia. His wife Rebecca is an Ursinus graduate, and their family lives locally in Perkiomen Township.
