Alec Charon
Alec Charon is a guitarist and teacher based in West Philadelphia. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Alec has performed regularly for over 13 years in jazz, rock and folk music settings.
Alec is active in musical theatre throughout Greater Philadelphia, participating in recent productions for the Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival (The Color Purple), Delaware Theatre Company (Kinky Boots, Always... Patsy Cline) Temple University (Spring Awakening, Xanadu) and the University of the Arts (Polyphone). He also performs regularly with the wedding and event band Bachelor Boys.
As an Adjunct Lecturer at Ursinus College, Alec offers lessons in Applied Guitar. Nearby, he serves on faculty at the Community Music School of Collegeville, where he teaches music theory and guitar lessons. He also teaches guitar students in the Mainline with the Paul Michael School of Music.
Alec graduated from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition. While attending, he studied with Bruce Barth, Greg Kettinger, Dick Oatts and Peter Bernstein.
In his downtime, Alec plays Irish traditional music on banjo and mandolin in Philadelphia’s Irish pubs.
