Kathrin Reed

Visiting Assistant Professor

Originally from Germany, I previously worked at an international organization on issues related to security sector governance and peace-building in Switzerland and Southeast Asia. During my PhD, I had the privilege of conducting 13 months of fieldwork in Cambodia with the generous funding of the Fulbright Association and the Center for Khmer Studies. I also became involved in training and mentoring young Cambodian researchers interested in public policy issues during this period.

My professional and research experience abroad drives my research and teaching interests and approaches. In particular, I am passionate about ensuring that academic research and teaching draws on and is applicable to the real world. I have continued to be active in bridging academia with the policy world, such as through participating in the Bridging the Gap Project. For several years, I additionally worked on several Department of State public diplomacy exchange programs that are administered by the University of Delaware.
